Torokko Puppetry Library
Torokko Puppetry Library is the only library in Japan specializing in puppetry,
established by Torokko Puppets in 1996.
It is home to approximately 10.000 books and a wide variety of materials.
This includes some invaluable materials such as books and woodblock prints
of traditional puppets from the Edo Period, posters and advertising catalogs
of modern puppets after the Meiji Period,and contemporary puppets from
the Showa Period.
You are able to see evolution of puppets in Japan.
The library is open to the public and is utilized by many people,including
students who are doing their dissertations on puppetry,researchers and
amateur puppet enthusiasts.
However, its hours are not regular, so please contact us before coming
to confirm the time.
